Doors Close Tonight. Here's the Honest Math.
No countdown theater — exactly what paid gets, what it costs, and the one thing that disappears at midnight.
This morning at 8am I dropped the Race Day playlist — the last build of the founding window. This post is the last thing I’ll say about that window, so let me do it the way I graded my own predictions last Friday: no theater, just the board.
Two weeks ago I switched on paid. I promised no countdown gimmicks, so here is exactly what’s on the table until midnight tonight — and what isn’t.
What stays free, forever. The essays, the verdicts, the Office Hours questions, the Go Run playlist. If you never pay for a subscription, you still get the honest version of everything I publish publicly. That doesn’t change tonight, and it never will.
What paid gets today — not someday:
THE LIST. 287 NYC restaurants from 40 years of eating in this city — 165 of them actually rated, the misses included, plus the gone-but-great. Gated, live now.
The Full Playlist Library. Every BPM-mapped build, including this morning’s Race Day drop.
The Office Hours archive as it grows — the full breakdowns behind every question. (The early ones stay free; I keep my promises.)
What Founding adds — $200 for the year, first 100 people:
The quarterly live AMA, where next quarter I’ll grade YOUR predictions on the same rubric I ran on myself. I came out at a 3.29 and led with the F on purpose. Same treatment — your call on the table.
Founding is the patron tier — same access as annual, doubled down on purpose. What the extra buys is the seat: the AMA grading table, the Charter bonus below, and my thanks on the record.
And the one thing that actually disappears at midnight: the Charter bonus — a custom race-day playlist, BPM-mapped to your race, your distance, your goal pace— or for your non-running workout. Join founding tomorrow and the tier still exists. This doesn’t.
That’s the entire pitch. The window closes tonight for one reason: a founding cohort only means something if it’s finite. I’d rather have a small room of people who chose this on the merits than a big one recruited by a fake timer.
If the free work has been worth your time since June, this is the one day I’ll ask you directly.
