292 restaurants. Same scale — mine, not Beli’s.
But now every verdict is a pin on a map you can carry in your pocket!

Here’s the thing about every restaurant map you’ve ever used: Beli tells you what everyone thinks, averaged into mush. Eater tells you what’s new. Google tells you what paid to be there. None of them will show you a 4 — None of them will tell you a restaurant with a two-month waitlist is a miss — and then stand behind it, in public, month after month.

This map does. One palate, forty years, and the scores below 7 stay on the board.

Beli tells you what everyone thinks. This tells you what I think — and I’m accountable for it.

What’s on it:

  • Every rating as a bubble on the pin — tap any spot, and my verdict is right there, with the address, the website, and a one-tap jump to Google Maps for directions

  • Layers you can toggle — the five tiers (Casual, Date Night, Fancy, Iconic, Pricey), the current TOP 10, and yes, The Misses: the overhyped places I’m telling you to skip, and where to go instead

  • “What are you craving?” — tap the noodle bowl, pick a craving (Korean, sushi, steak, pizza…), pick a part of town, and it shows you every spot that made the cut — plus my top pick of the matches

  • Near Me — standing on a corner, wondering where to eat? One tap sorts the whole List by distance from where you’re standing

  • Your own layers — mark spots ❤ Been there or ◎ Hit list. That’s saved on your phone, private to you

  • My List — everything you’ve marked. Been there becomes YOUR list, with your own scores next to mine and a one-liner if you’ve got one.
Tap ➤ Send my list to Randy, and it comes straight to me.
Here’s why you should: twice a month I’m going to feature a reader and their list in the newsletter — where our verdicts agree, where you think I’m wrong, the whole argument. (I’ll always ask before naming you.)

  • Tab Roulette 🎲 — can’t decide? Spin it. The List decides.

  • Verdict Cards — any verdict becomes a card you can save or text to the friend who keeps defending 4 Charles 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • Gone (but not forgotten) — a layer of the places we lost, going back years. Forty years of eating in New York includes the funerals.
